Chives

Description

Chives are the gentlest member of the onion family: the thin, hollow stems are used, with a fresh onion taste but none of its bite. In late spring they produce lovely lilac pompom flowers, which are edible too.

Use them raw, snipped with scissors at the last moment: on soups, potato creams, salads, yogurt sauces or vegan mayonnaise. They are very easy to grow in a pot, and the more you cut them, the more they grow back.
