Lemon verbena

Description

Lemon verbena (Aloysia citrodora) is a shrub from South America, with narrow leaves and an intense lemon scent, almost stronger than lemon itself.

It is mostly used for herbal teas, but in the kitchen it is a surprise: dried, it perfumes fried celeriac; fresh, it adds a citrus note to sauces, spreads and roast potatoes. In a pot it grows well in full sun and needs protection from frost.
